On a side note, darkmagicianawsome, good points, but you write it a little to aggressively (thus seeming bias). I've visited starbucks and tim hortons countless times across the expanse of the North American (Canada and U.S.) westcoast and thus I am sure this is a credible comment. First off, yes you can't compare the two, they are totally different; but I'm going to compare them anyways. Sharkboy is absolutely right in saying Starbucks is better, but allow me too explain. Let's start with price, Tim Horton's definitely wins there, well, in terms of their cheapest drink. I will admit their expressos also taste better, however, in the westcoast, their "medium" sized cups are INCREDIBLY small. I mean even smaller than a McDonalds small coffee cup. Starbucks on average have better tasting drinks and in much LARGER cups- definitely worth more for your buck. You might argue SB is full of milk and ice, but TH is also very diluted- so tied on that note (though SB is more tasty). SB is PHENOMENAL during the winter holidays (ie. Christmas Specials), during that season SB wins hands down. The spacing in the store is crowded and dark, compared to TH's bright and expansive, but that emphasizes on new friends and just the Christmas mood, so they're tied. BTW- to darkmagicianawsome, b/c SB cups are bigger, coffee stays hot longer (did you forget your thermodynamic studies?). So here's the ultimate tie breaker. Service. SB wins hands down. He is absolutely right that TH employees dont understand a single word of English and keep on pestering the English employees about what their client wants. And I live in Vancouver with all those Asian immigrants. I KNOW. SB has their fair share of Asians as well, they aren't stereotypical white supremacists. But all the Asians (let alone Caucasians) speak perfectly fluent English at SB. I've been through California to Whistler and I can tell you. In fact, during Christmas, they even slip a "Merry Christmas" after your purchase. Now that's beyond service. As for TH: Welcome to America/Canada- Learn some damn English. But lets not forget that I am only comparing coffee- every other little thing is another story to be argued about. TH has great doughnuts and soups, I've never been to any SB that has sold soups (well save for Airports etc...). And lets remember that SB is a COFFEE SHOP, and that's their specialty, so don't mess, SB still wins hands down for a coffee shop.
