I went back to work this morning after taking Thursday and Friday off because of this annoying head cold which has now definitely moved to my chest… I had a good night last night and thought myself ready…

I quickly realized it wasn’t the case after 30 minutes from the doors opening when some arrogant man questioning every step I took to find his information on our database system started telling me to hurry… to which I finally said: “Sir! I don’t tell you how to do your job, and in this location, we all appreciate the same in return” and continued to do the search while he just looked on, the side of his face stuck to the plexiglass window in and effort to see the computer screen. After finding what I was looking for, I told him an total amount he needed to pay on 3 different tickets. He said he had paid everything and didn’t have to pay anymore and for me to check this information again… I then asked why he came to our office this morning if he knew that everything was taken care of. He said he wanted to make sure, so I told him that was an excellent idea and that our records didn’t indicate any payments on his fines and that if he couldn’t produce receipts as proof of payments then I’d have to go with the information in front of me. On the other hand, if he had receipts to show me, we would gladly clarify everything for him… He said he didn’t keep receipts and kept asking about the dates, the fines, the amounts, the officer’s badge number on all the tickets he “had” (with the infamous finger air quote motion). I had already printed all of them and was pointing out all the answers to him, then circling them to be sure he knew where to look back… Then he said he wanted photocopy of the original ticket, not the computer printouts and I blurted: “Absolutely, anything to get you out of here”… and it hit me that I wasn’t better and ready to be back at work. I got the original, made photocopies, didn’t charge him the printing cost and sent him on his way.

I was told later on that this guy used to come in every once in a while to do the same thing but they hadn’t seen him lately… Great.

So I only stayed for half the day as my energy level was truly going down and came home… I’m awaiting a call back from my doctor to see how fast I can have an appointment. I’m not a fan of antibiotics as it’s been more than 5 years since I took some and then 9 years before that time… but I think it’s time to get something in me to fight this one off… And maybe and extra dose of patience too please.

Cough! ouch.
