While reading on the life of the late John Hughes, I was reminded of an article he had written while working at National Lampoon Magazine called Vacation ’58 which was later turned into the Chevy Chase movie National Lampoon’s Vacation.

I remember thinking the movie was quite funny and became curious about reading this article… A quick search online and there it was… I started reading it and was laughing out loud so much I couldn’t just keep it for myself.

Here is the first paragraph:

If Dad hadn’t shot Walt Disney in the leg, it would have been our best vacation ever! We were going to Disneyland. It was a dream come true. The rides! The thrills! The Mouseketeers! I was so excited that I spent the whole month of May feeling like I had to go to the bathroom. When school finally let out on a Tuesday, I sprinted home as fast as I could, even though we weren’t leaving until Friday.

Now, go read the rest of Vacation ’58
