Maizey: enjoy the 2 days off

matthew: it's weird because rats are being seen a ton more than usual throughout the city but the chief medical officer of the city says that there hasn't been anymore complaints about rats than usual... We never see rats in our area and this week DR saw one on his way to work... so yeah, it's really becoming an issue that the city is ignoring... maybe the kid of one of our prominent people will get bitten this weekend and it will be the end of the strike. Funny how everyone else but the people in charge are seeing the problems. Our mayor is one hated man right now.

If that happened in Wichita the mice would be breeding out of control and we'd have to start worrying about hanta virus. Hope the strike ends soon.

woooo hoooo I have two, count em, two days off. My first since the beginning of the strike. Shocking as to how totally psyched I am for them.

As for management chilling at Dundas Square it is like anything else-- those who slacked pre strike will continue to slack during. I am with a good hard working crew. Definitely crunching through the day-- makes the time go so much faster and gives a sense of accomplishment even if things are trashed again by the start of the next day.

All my optimism for an end to the strike has faded away after another conversation today with someone who self identified as a moderate striker. He describes a firm resolve among those directly involved in picketing. The wild card of course are those
who are not picketing, have little understanding of the issues and are anxious to return.

Today, as I look forward to the weekend and buoyed by positive feedback I truly don't give a f*ck if we go all summer.

Next week of course when my back is aching and I deal with maggoty dog poo (sorry for the visual) I may have other thoughts.

I do enjoy your reports. Besides making me laugh they help me to more freely step forward to shake a hand and and be more open to listening.

Last thing-- I find the inability of local media to step outside of Chinatown to show garbage on the streets to be lazy and racist. Do we need *one more* shot of the dundas/spadina tri-bin? I am curious as to how other areas of the City are faring outside of Chinatown and the dump sites.

There's so much of Toronto's garbage I haven't explored yet... I'm gonna venture into Chinatown this weekend and see if it's as bad as CP24 says...
