31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 11

I love days like today when I’m at work, too busy to notice the time and next thing you know it’s 5pm and you’re on your way back home, listening to your favourite Disney Podcast, I’m totally enjoying Van over at Netcot. He’s a pretty funny guy with a very informative site and entertaining podcasts.

One good thing that happened today is that I received notice that I passed the test from last week and will go on Wednesday for an interview… final process to find out if I’m successful or not… fingers crossed.

Here I am cramming for it already:

Today also marks my parent’s wedding anniversary, would’ve been the 52nd. I know my mom will be thinking of my dad, so I’ll make sure to call her and tell her I’m thinking of her today.

Also, everynight before going to bed, I’m forcing DR to watch an old animated Disney movie… last night was:

Fun!

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 10

Hummm, Sunday… It’s time for the Y… 7:00 am out the door to ride to the gym and sign on for the torturous water aerobics class once more, our weekly tradition.

And now, after burning all these calories, time to eat.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Remember to call your mom.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 9

What’s a boy to do on a stormy/rainy Saturday morning?

Our first project with a pattern has finally come to fruition with the test we started last week… it was a lot more complicated than anticipated, but after a break and going back to work on it, DR was able to sew it all into place and now we’re ready to work on the real thing… YEH.

And now it’s back to Fabricland because we ran out of thread… This place is almost becoming as cruisy as a gay bar.

Oh also, as seen on Nice To See Stevie B, I took this quiz and apparently I am most like:

springday09b
You are J.R. Ewing! Congratulations, you evil manipulative bastard. While having an extremely astute mind for business, you often allow your emotions to get the best of you. Making money is key, and while getting what you want often comes easy, you stud, keeping it is another story.

Could be worse, I could have been Lucy or Miss Ellie

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 8

What a freakin’ gorgeous day today was… This weather was really the first real taste of summer we’ve had this year. It really made you think of vacations, which is where my mind has been for the last while anyway.

Speaking of vacation, we made a little trip to Fabricland once again for some extra sewing goods for the trip and yes, tomorrow will be another day trying to figure out this freakin’ pattern we bought last week… Who knew they would throw a “slipstich” in the mix, I still don’t know what that is, but we’ll give it our best and try to complete the project this time.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 7

The Information Desk at our office serves as a way of triage, we help people understand their options, answer their questions and then send them in all the many directions they need to go to pursue the option of their choice… Most time, it’s an easy enough job, but sometimes you’ll deal with some really ignorant people who will play stupid or try to catch you making an error or just simply insult you because they were caught doing something illegal and it’s now your problem for some reason… I don’t really get it, I just take comfort in the fact that a lot of people thank me for my assistance and I try to ignore the others…

For someone like me, a no-patience-kinda-guy, it’s not always easy to keep calm when people play games one after the other… and this week has been very trying. As you can tell by this very unflattering picture, I’m just about to lose it on this idiot who keeps asking me to repeat the information I give him. I got the better of him though when I flipped his ticket over and pointed to the information written at the back and said: “Sir, we provide you with all the information you need to file this ticket to court, it all written here, you’d have save yourself a lot of time just by reading it”

springday07

After he left, this lady with a very very very thick European accent starts asking me questions about her options, so I start my speech all over again, and then she asks me well what if I want to do that to which I replied, than you do this, but than what if I want this instead well then you’d have to do this I replied… and then I said to her: “the court is very clear, either you plead guilty and pay or plead not guilty and go to court… it’s that black and white, there’s no ifs, no maybes… if you don’t take one of those 2 options, you risk having your driver’s licence suspended”… And then in a very professional North American accent, she said: “I was just joking, I just want to pay”. Without smiling at “her joke”, I replied: “Oh a graduate of George Brown School of Acting, how fresh”. And then I said: “Next”

And these were just 2 of the hundreds of clowns I saw today.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 6

As of late, I’ve been getting out of bed around 6ish while DR bravely leaves to go to the gym, I take out the Wii fit and do my daily body test… I have already lost 11 pounds, but I don’t attribute it to the Wii Fit really which is just a good tool to record improvements/changes, although I wouldn’t be burning calories that much in the morning without the Wii Fit, maybe it’s helping a bit. But the loss of weight is more from the change in diet that DR started and I followed up on… He’s doing really well, little bugger.

Just before he left this morning, I asked him to snap some pix for today’s entry:

After measuring your Centre Of Balance, the Wii Fit also weighs you. It showed me today that my COB was a little to the rigth and that my weight was 198.6… I have lost 0.7 pounds since yesterday. After that is recorded, you can take 2 balance tests… Today I had The Walking Test, you take 20 steps and the idea is to keep perfect balance, basically to put down the feet exactly where you lifted them off from, I scored 87%, down from 100% last time…

springday06a
Walking Test

My second test was the Steadiness Balance Test where all you have to do is find the perfect Centre Of Balance and not move for 20 seconds, then the screen starts to move around but you can’t, then it dissapears and you still cannot move… I didn’t do that well today, I score 57% down from my 73% last time. That red line shows how much I moved during the test:

The balance tests change daily and some are definitely easier than others.

After the COB and your weight has been measured, they add your score from the 2 balance tests and Wii gives your your Fit Age, the idea being the lower the age the better… Today I scored this:

springday06c

Uh, I mean this:

springday06d

I still have to beat 33, my best Wii Fit age to date.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 5

Another working day gone… thank the lord.
Today I did go back to take the second part of that test after last Friday’s fiasco… I’m awaiting results. If I passed, I will be invited for the interview process and then if successful, I will change position at Court Services and work at the counter full-time. Yeh! I think…

But mainly, today is good because I just got off the phone with Disney and booked a little backstage tour called Disney’s Keys To The Kingdom.

springday05a
Man, my head is huge!!!

Syl, Shaun, DR and I will be guest of Disney for 4.5 hours and will tour areas we normally don’t have access too on a regular visit, including the famous Utilidors (Magic Kingdom’s tunnel system), the staging areas for the afternoon parade floats, and some attractions as well. Can’t wait!!!

Here’s a plan of the Utilidors:

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 4

Today wasn’t necessarily a great day at work… yes, I spoke my mind loudly with the powers that be… oh well…

Luckily I came home to a lovely prepared dinner from DR.

Here I am with a delicious low-cal guacamole dip and flat bread:

springday04a

Yummmmmy! Feeling much better already.

Weird I should be wearing a shirt the same colour as my food today!!!

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 3

Re-energizing with an egg and salsa on a 12 grain sandwich after a torturous water aerobics early morning class:

springday03
CHOMP!

Today, I’m also going to attempt to sew an enviro-grocery shopping bag, my very first time using a store bought pattern.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 2

Today, we got up early and made our way to the farmer’s market at St-Lawrence Market… hummm… two days in a row at that location… but today was better.

We needed our weekly supplies of fruits and veggies:

springday02a

We couldn’t find any good bananas today, so it was up to Metro across the street to get some:

springday02b

At the cash register, DR and I spotted this Archie book, with a Mr. Lodge looking very much like DR’s dad…

springday02c

Wowzie… Veronica is looking mighty like Betty Page or even more like Tura Satana from Russ Meyer’s Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! who we saw last summer in Toronto at the Sci-Fi comic book convention… still sporting the Betty Page wig but the boobs are a tad lower.

On other May 2, 2009 stories, today’s is my mom’s birthday, she’s 70 years young today… Happy Birthday Mom. XOXOXO
