31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 21

This morning at work, a girl came to chit-chat at my desk and noticed a ziplock bag with 3 cookies in it and loudly exclaimed: “You’ve been baking?”. I responded that these were special “weight control” cookies that my hubby baked for us as we’re watching our intake of sugar and want more bran in our diet. She told me to be careful because using “fake sugar” can actually make you gain weight, especially the diet soft drinks. I then told her we were using special sugar from the States that wasn’t available here yet and that this special sugar was actually a fat burner and made hair grow, so a real double win for me.

Naturally I said all this with a straight face and sent her walking away scratching her head… Silly girls.

Here’s me and my truly magical cookies:

Yummm

My lord it was painful to watch Alice In Wonderland last night, what were they smoking at Disney when they made that??? I can’t say I’m a fan of this little gem, can’t win them all. Tonight will be a return to true classics with this:

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 20

It’s become a tradition now. For the last 3 years, Da, DR’s father, has bought us tickets to an exclusive event in town: Empty Bowls. This is a fundraiser that mixes art and food… foodart maybe? Anyway, artists and students alike make these great bowls and donate them to this fundraiser, then 15 local chef bring on signature soups from their restaurant and people go from stations to stations to sample the delectable soups. It’s as delish as you think it is. Last soup I had tonight was rhubarb soup with a spoonful of strawberry sorbet… Ayum!

Fun thing is you get to pick the bowl you will use throughout the soirée and then bring it home for your collection. I chose this one:

Meow!

Wouldn’t you know that the artist made 2 of them and out of nowhere, DR came to me to show off his bowl and it was the sister one to the one I picked, his had a kitty with a dream bubble with a fish in it… so cute. But he ended up choosing another one so we didn’t go around the chef’ stations as twins.

Tonight’s Disney Animated Classic will be the continuation of last night, I think I lasted 15 minutes before snoring away:

Let’s hope I can tough it a little bit longer tonight… Same thing happened when I tried to watch it a few years back.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 19

Always tough going back to work after a long weekend, made even tougher when you’re asked to “train” someone in what you do and you can’t seem to get through the person at all, almost like she’s trying on purpose not to understand. Jesus Christ lady, it’s called filing for god sakes, you learned that in grade 1 with your ABC’s… I’m sure she text on her cell phone while driving though.

After work, DR and I went for a walk and ended up there:

Our backyard. Nah, just joshing, that’s The Simpson House at Riverdale Farm.

springday19b
Farm life.

Last night, I had the most trouble staying awake for this Disney Animated Classic… not that it was boring, it just wasn’t that great, although I totally perked up when Maid Marian sang “Love”… pretty song:

springday19c

Let’s hope I can stay awake for tonight’s viewing… last time I tried, I stopped 30 minutes into it, I just couldn’t get into it… but that was years ago…

It could be warmer of course, but what a gorgeous day today is. Full sun, not one cloud in the sky. Perfect for an exploratory walk on the town:

Our backyard. Nah, just joshing, it’s the nearby oasis at Alan Gardens

Acting it up at Queen’s Park

We saw Angels and Demons yesterday and I really liked it. I was expecting a lot since I loved reading the book and was very pleased with the way they handled the very formidable ending from the book. Of course they changed somethings that didn’t need to be, just like in DaVinci Code by removing Sophie’s brother story line.

Last night, our Animated Disney Classic, wasn’t really a classic, as it is très recent, but was very entertaining nonetheless. We watched this:

springday18c

When I say watched, I should say that this time I was the one taking a snooze in the middle of it… I’ll blame our big dinner. But I did see most of it and really enjoyed the storyline. Lots of sight gags too, look for “Todayland” and such.

While on today’s walk, we found our next Disney Animated Classic in a garage sale, I so thought I owned it, but was nowhere to be found in my collection… it’s now been corrected and we’ll watch it tonight.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 17

Another Sunday, another water-aerobics class at the Y:

Just anticipating the pain:

Side pool stretches:

Flex, SharkBoy, Flex!

Not sure if it’s against the rules or not to bring the camera to the pool area, but it was fun playing rebels.

Today, after house chores and lunch, we’ll go spend some time with Robert Langdon and Vittoria Vetra. YEH!

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 16

Last night I made a very bad decision… I had popcorn at the movies, not fake butter though, just popcorn and then after the movie, I was hungry, so I went for the 12″ 9grains Veggie Delite at Subway. And ate it all at 9:30, then of course, as an idiot, I fell asleep… This morning I really needed to do something about it, so in our gym clothes we jumped and made our way to the Y to try and counter-act this stupid move of eating late:

springday16

I did a 45 min cardio session with some good stretchings, felt better, but still, from the eating late and not eating good food, I gained 1 full pound… I’ll do better this week.

Walking home, we found this cute little friend trying to chat us up:

springday16b

Because I fell asleep on the couch after gorging myself, I was too tired to put on a Disney movie, not that I would’ve seen any of it anyway… so the programme will resume tonight.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 15

Today was a day of reflection:

#1
If we were still camping and had kept our site for the season, I would totally need to buy these:

springday15

#2
If you empty the water from a fountain, it will become someone’s path or someone’s park:

springday15d

#3
I see this on a daily basis and never really stopped to reflect on how beautiful it is:

springday15f

#4
I reflected on where I live:

springday15h

Oh… and I saw Star Trek. It fuckin’ rocked.

Last night, our my (yep, he fell asleep again) Disney movie was:

springday15b

Another one of my top fave Disney. They really nailed the villain in this movie, her manneurism and her voice as so perfect and funny without being stupid… love Cruella… animated Cruella that is.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 14

I’m still good on my promise, I didn’t buy anything, but I couldn’t resist going in to see what was new, it had been weeks… So today I went into HMV at Dundas and Yonge…. AAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Feels good. Got my fix for awhile.

springday14a

I also had to deal with some really stupid people, including a taxi driver that tried to push me with his car as I was crossing the street and he was going for one of those illegal u-turn at the corner and couldn’t go any further until I finish crossing… as he kept releasing the brakes then pressing on the brakes and releasing the breaks again, inching his way behind me, I turned to him and said: “Seriously dude, you’d risk losing your driver’s licence just so you can make this illegal u-turn”. Typical reaction, he gave me the finger and continued to inch his way until he was done and I was on the other side of the street…

Last night, I treated DR to this gem:

springday14b

Definitely in my top 3 Disney animated movie list. Thomas O’Malley is one cool cat who knows where it’s at. Although, I would do away with the geese bit… not funny!

31 Spring Day of SharkBoy – Day 13

Blargh!!!

springday13

This morning I had to make my way to City Hall for this horrible interview. Great building, always love to go inside, but I’m terrible at interviews… I can write about myself much better than I can talk about myself. I don’t think I rocked it at all and I left kicking myself for forgetting to add very sound examples to amplify my answers. Oh well, at least I still have a job with the City if I don’t get this new one, so I shouldn’t really be so hard on myself, but like everyone, I do like to win and getting this job would be a win. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Tonight is the finale of America’s Next Top Model and since my favourite girl, Celia, got eliminated last week, I couldn’t care less who wins, but I must admit that I’m liking Allison right now, I really like her sense of humour.

Last night, on our Disney Movie night, we played this:

springday13b

After a few minutes, I turned around and DR was giving me some good ZZZZZzzzzzz’s. Me, just like a kid, I totally enjoyed it. It would be interesting to see how much would change in today’s politically correct world, I don’t think the kids would be smoking, drinking and going on about… I also don’t think the two villains would have such distinctive “ethnic” voices either. But, still, it’s a gorgeous movie to watch.

Tonight we’ll have another classic. I hope DR will stay awake for at least 20 minutes, I’ll definitely have to fast forward through the promos and previews to try and make him achieve that.

31 Spring Days of SharkBoy – Day 12

Highlight of this day was definitely meeting up with my 2 ex-worker friends at The Rex for lunch:

springday12
Me, Nick & Ione… on her last few days as a single girl

I needed to pick their brains to help me out with the “oh-so-different” style of interview the City likes to conduct… See, unlike other interviews I’ve gone on where the employer wants to get to know you by asking questions and judging you on the answer by listening, watching your body talk, etc, at the City, you have 3 people, each asking a question after the other and not paying attention to you, they don’t even look at you, they take note, making sure you choose the “key” words they want to hear… Anyway, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow… I’m still not nervous about it and it might be a bad sign. I wasn’t nervous last time I was up for that job and I didn’t do well in the interview in their eyes ears.

After work, I also went to visit my favourite barber… gotta look sharp for the interview, right? Here I am at the end of it all, relaxing with a hot towel on my head to clean up the shaving foam leftover. So civilized:

springday12c

To continue in our new animated Disney movie per night, last night we watched this:

springday12b

I mean, I watched it… poor DR fell asleep before the Bambi could say his first word… which was “bird-ah”. Same as Peter Pan the night before, I hadn’t seen these movies since grade school, it really is a pleasure to watch them again.
