Well, we all did when the Ben & Jerry Ice Cream Factory came into sight. And then we ran for it:
While visiting my sister in Vermont with DR, we decided to make the vacation that much more sweet by driving the 20 minutes from her house the Ben & Jerry Factory.
For $3 (cheaper than the smallest cone they sell at their counter) you can take a guided tour through the plant. A tour that includes a short film on how the company started, how it grew and what it is like now. It really is one of those great little success story especially when you think that it only cost them $5 to take the “ice cream making” class by correspondance in the late 60′s. After the movie, our guide took us to an lookout where we could see the entire plant, pretty cool place with nice interactive lights coming on and off as she explains each section of the process of making the best ice cream in the world.
The tour wasn’t very long considering that half of it is spent watching the movie but the ending remain spectacular with a delicious sample of one of the year’s new flavour, ours was Cake Batter (menummm) which is yellow cake batter ice cream with chocolate frosting swirl (very menummm).
The tour guide could have had more enthusiasm, but then again, it was $3 per person, and it’s not like we were on Disney soil, so it probably wasn’t in her contract to make us feel like we had left Earth for a mini-paradise. Although, one scoop of Chunky Monkey could prove me wrong!
Of course, every tour ends in a cleverly located gift shop:
After the tour is over, you are free to go and visit the great grounds they have, one really fun area is the Flavor Graveyard:
They also have a mini farm:

Where milk for Ben & Jerry ice cream comes from!
Ben & Jerry is a super eco-friendly company, they have just introduced the Hydrocabon Freezers
that will help save our ozone layer… That’s Vermonters for you!

That looks awesome! I’d totally try the sweet potato ice cream, and I’m surprised PB & jelly isn’t still around. Cake batter sounds delicious too though. Mmmm now I’m tempted to go get ice cream.
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!
Take me there! That looks like the most awesome place ever!!! Excellent photos by the way! How was the post-sugar hangover the next day?
Phronk: At one of the restaurant inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can have a PB & J milkshake… and as good as it sounds, it was the worst I’ve ever had
Kezza: I’d be 2 millions pounds heavy if I lived closer to that plant. And I’m still on that sugar high
