Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Relax!
Don’t call the cops.
I am not being attacked by my cat.
I am a not a victim of domestic violence either.

This action shot is brought to you by my tattoo.

It’s already been one month since the ink work was done and today I had to go for the re-touch.

And this concludes our 31 Summer Days of SharkBoy. I hope you enjoyed.

Please stay tuned for 28 Winter Days of SharkBoy coming in February 2009.

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 30 (only one day left after this)

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Well, it’s just that hot in Toronto, I had to have ice cream again tonight, this time accompanied by the Mailman at the delicious Baskin-Robins on Church St, something we did a lot of in the past but not so much this year at all, it was a nice reunion of sorts. Oh, and the ice cream totally did the trick.

Dig the biker chicks in the background! Vroom! Vroom!

And that was 3 hours after going to the dentist… I’m loopy!

It was also nice meeting Sean of The Fortress of Solitude who was coming up to exchange books with DR so he too can do a review of the new James Bond book. Of course, more HD TV was discussed. As boys do.

I can’t believe I only have one more Summer Days of SharkBoy left after this…

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 29

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Tonight was my turn to make dinner as DR is totally rocking the laundry.
I’m a poor dinner maker. I truly lack interest in that department although you can’t tell by how fat I am, but then again, loving to eat is different than loving to cook.

So here’s what I cooked up for me and my man tonight:

Oh and what about that Ryan Seacrest getting bitten by a shark on the weekend… totally cool. Especially since the shark left a tooth in him, what a great necklace that would make.

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 28

Ah… cold ice cream on a hot evening… delish!

Put ice cream in a bowl, add strawberry sauce & sprinkles, and voila:

To make the pleasure last, use a small spoon.

I went for the vanilla one. Dr took the chocolate.
(No need to tell me about the rolls on each sides of my body, I can see them too)

And then later on that day, Janna lost the role of Maria… proving that Canada has a taste for torture for giving it to Elicia. Seriously, I know at least 20 people who watched that show and NOT one of them liked Elicia. Oh well, I’ll continue watching the movie instead of seeing the show live at the Princess Theatre. Too bad, it looked promising with Janna in the lead.

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 27 (The morning after the TV)

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Been up for 3 hours and 2hr45min of that have been spent on the TV. The other 15min was spent getting the caffeine and carb we’ll need to sustain us for the entire day…

Me with the Coronation Street gang on CBC

30min later, me with Super Mario Galaxy on Wii

45min later, me with Burnout Paradise on Xbox. Xbox totally rules with HD, so fun. Now I want to go back and play older Xbox games to see how they look… Dead Rising here I come…

And that concludes all new TV talk until Shark Week on Discovery. Oh, that starts tonigth….

After the morning excitement, we were on the hunt for HDMI cables, we found a whole slew at Factory Direct (not my favourite store) for approximately $75 less than at Best Buy or Future Shop… $25 for 2 cables… I’m happy. Oh and then we went to Kensington Market after getting huge slushies to cool my core:

I wonder if we’d find DR’s stolen bicycle in their inventory

Is this what they sell at Bike Pirates?

Might be owned by a Pirate

Not a Pirate, just a sad lad

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 26

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

To celebrate the upcoming long weekend of August, DR and I will be driving to the Laurentians in Quebec to meet up with Syl and her family (Pogo, Max and Shaun) as well as my Mom and Aunt. This little town we’re visiting is where my dad was born and raised and lived until he was 16. We have spent many summer vacations there and I can’t wait to return again. In 2003 I went back for the first time in 22 yrs, it hadn’t changed much to my surprise and it was absolutely so nice to relive the memories. It will be fun to show DR around the area. Lots of pictures will be taken, a real snapping factory of them.

What we have decided to do for this family reunion of sorts is that every family will be responsible for one dinner. DR and I will be making our famous italian spaghetti on Saturday night… I am getting the sauce ready, look at me!!!!!

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH…. I GOTTA GO, THE TV JUST ARRIVED!!!!

ADDENDUM
I couldn’t resist taking this picture with all the Halloween stuff already out… IT’S JULY… LET US HAVE THE SUMMER

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 25 – DeadRobot’s B’day

Friday, July 25th, 2008

YEH! Happy Birthday Husband!

Gifts with family in bed:

We will have a quiet dinner tonight with Da, and then I’ll say goodbye for awhile as the new TV arrives tomorrow. I won’t see him for days.

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 24

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Day 2 of the First Aid seminar had us deal more with CPR, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Things have changed a bit since I last took the course, we now do 5 series of the following combo: 2 breaths inside the mouth and 30 chest pumps, then check for vital signs, if person not breathing on its own, repeat until ambulance arrives… When I last took the course, it was 5 breaths / 10 pumps, check and repeat… so now you know too.

The funnest part was to play with the defibrillator, we see them in movies all the time, but I had never seen one this close. The model we had had a recording in it telling us what to do and would continue to repeat the orders until it was satisfied that you had done it. Unlike Hollywood’s defibrillators, the machine will only shocks if necessary, it works with the signs it feels from being connected to the body, no one is holding paddles and yells “Clear”… Fun nonetheless. I asked why the defribilator had a British voice, he said they come in every accent. I want a gay one.

We also did a lot of First Aid / CPR for infant, something I had never covered in the past, at least not to this extent. For today’s class, we were introduced to our models:

The babies resting before the lesson

I couldn’t help noticing poor Shaniquaa’s segregation:

I couldn’t decide between Baby Maria and Shaniquaa, I went with both:

Oh and just for kicks? This is what I looked like after I was treated for my injuries at the car accidents scene:

I had lost one ear, they found it and put it on ice. I had a piece of the windshield stuck to my forehead, they bandaged around the glass and were careful not to remove it. Someone held my neck and head straight as they didn’t know if I had spinal injury, very good, the person shouldn’t move until the ambulance arrives. They covered me with a blanket to keep me from going into shock and one person kept reassuring me everything was ok. A+ for the job, E- for the look.

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 23

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I was in class all day today as I am taking a 2-day First Aid seminar. It’s a lot of fun and even though I’ve been certified for a certificate at least 3 times before in the last 30 years, I find I always forget what needs to be done first. Refreshers are most important.

So now I know my 1, 2, 3 and A, B, C of what to do should someone collapsed nearby.

Here is a bag full of “models”, not America’s Next Top’s kind

And here’s me with mine all assembled, I called her Maria in honour of the Sound of Music coming to town. Dig that crazy chick in the background, if you thinks she looks crazy, that’s just the half of it… Who the fuck wears sunglasses during an entire class unless they want to bring attention to themselves… Oh, I know, a crazy chick?

You want proof she’s crazy? Here’s how she fixed my neck wound… CrAzYYYY!!!! I ended up having to hold the bandages in place to make sure the cut was covered… cRaZyyy!!!

Tomorrow will be a lot more intense as we will deal with major injuries from car crash scenes, etc…

Speaking of Marias and The Sounds of Music, we couldn’t resist snapping some shots at The Princess of Whales theatre next door:

I love that poster

Me and the winner (I hope)

31 Summer Days of SharkBoy – Day 22

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Well… DR’s birthday is getting more and more expensive every year that goes by.
First I think it was a couple of t-shirts, the second year was a PSP unit, then last year was the Wii and the supermagical iPhone that he still kisses when I’m not looking. This year, I wanted to continue in the “electronic” vain and after months and months of shopping, we have finally chosen the flat screen TV we wanted:

We debated a long time, ever since Christmas really, should we go for 42″, 52″, no the 46″ is perfect. Do we need 720dpi or max it at 1080dpi? For our video game playing, we cannot accept anything less than the 120mgh processor, for sure we need that. Now just how many HDMI connectors do we need? 3 minimum at least, maybe 4?. Samsung? Sony? Toshiba? Panasonic? Samsung please, that cool one with the blue neon light underneath the logo… yes, that’s the one.

Well, all that research went out the door this week when I saw the ultra cool 50″ Samsung (with the blue neon light under the logo) Plasma screen at an ultra low price. We realized that since HD tv is Canada will only broadcast at 720dpi for the next 3 yrs, we didn’t really 1080dpi. We also realized that plasma is best for fast action, so we won’t be needing the 120mgh processor the LCD units come with. Plus, after looking up the rave reviews online AND talking to people at work who have one too, we were sold.

The new baby will be coming home on Saturday, one day after DR’s birthday, but I’ll have a little something wrapped for him to open on his birthday morning.

Oh yeah, and we went to play video games after. Check it out at DR’s site:

This is me in the last position… but I managed to get to first in the race and then finished at 4th… not bad for an old timer.
